Pismo Beach

We visited Pismo Beach California for the first time on March 23 to 25, 2009.  We stayed at Pismo Coast Village RV Resort.  I found that there are several portions to the resort.  One is beautifully setup with wide wooded sites designed for large units and the other portion of the resort is for anywhere from campers to small trailers and 5th wheels.  Unfortunately, we were put in the latter and it greatly diminished our stay cause I barely had enough space for the 5th wheel and truck.  Woke up the second day and found a note that said my rear stabilizers were on the grass and I needed to move up.  It almost put us out on the roadway.  We were 50 yards from the sand dunes separating us from the beach.  Heck, we had a bigger site at the NASCAR race in Phoenix.

Enjoyed the quiet pristine walks on Pismo Beach, the pier, and visiting the shops and restaurants.  It was nice to be able to walk down or ride our bikes back and forth.  I was kind of surprised to see how small the tourist area was for the amount of visitors that come to Pismo each year.  We did not learn until we left that you can still dry camp on the beaches of Pismo but we did take the opportunity to take the truck for a drive on the beach.

We visited the Mission San Luis Obispo and took some time visiting the quaint shops of the downtown district.  One gross item we found was a narrow alley which had the buildings plastered with many layers of used chewing gum.  Must be one of those college things since Cal Poly is right there.
